A marine and project logistics company is hiring an Assistant Manager (Freight Forwarding Operations) in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Freight Forwarding - Role & Responsibilities
- Team leadership: Lead, guide and motivate the operations team, review workloads, resolve issues and help the team meet targets and deadlines.
- Shipment operations: Oversee shipments from booking to delivery, including documentation, carrier coordination and follow-up.
- Service delivery: Ensure shipments are handled safely, on time and within the agreed scope and cost.
- Client management: Manage key client accounts, respond to queries and concerns, and act as an escalation point when required.
- Reporting: Track operational performance and report results to senior management.
- Process improvement: Identify ways to reduce errors and delays and improve coordination across teams.
Mandatory Freight Forwarding Experience & Candidate Requirements
- Education: MBA preferred, especially in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Business or Finance.
- MANDATORY EXPERIENCE: At least 5 years of direct, relevant freight forwarding experience. Candidates with general operations experience but no freight forwarding background will not be considered.
- Team management: Team-management experience is preferred.
- Operations knowledge: Good knowledge of freight forwarding operations, shipping documentation and Incoterms.
- Professional skills: Strong leadership, people management, communication, negotiation, organisation, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Software: Proficiency in MS Office and logistics or ERP software.
- Preferred experience: Project cargo, out-of-gauge (OOG) or heavy-lift shipments; international clients and overseas agents.
- Work pattern: Work from office, Monday to Saturday, 9:30 AM–6:00 PM.
